The lighting bouncing off the bonnet and the intricate designs of each car looks gorgeous. It’s still in the pre-alpha stage, yet cars look fantastic. It’s also worth noting how good Hot Wheels Unleashed looks. Finding the right car isn’t as simple as picking the nicest looking, it’s about making sure the statistics work with the player’s play-style. Whilst this is an arcade racer, there’re many layers to taking on each race. Some cars might not have the best acceleration, but they aren’t as tricky to handle. After a while, though, Nitro is the best tool at your disposal. Knowing when to use it for the best often comes with becoming familiar with the tracks. Once a square on the gauge is filled, the ability to fly past opponents becomes another weapon in your arsenal. Building it up happens gradually as you race around each track. Nitro blends thrill and chaos beautifullyĪnother cool element to racing was using Nitro. Finding ways to balance control and speed not only provided a sense of skill, but it also became an enjoyable part of the process. Others had huge jumps that needed to be timed right or else flying off the course was a given. Some tracks had spider webs to slow me down as well as the AI. There are speed boosts to hit, both on straights and on corners, offering moments to break away from the competition. Drift feels amazing, and by using it at the right time, getting around corners looks and feels great. Whilst you have tight corners to manage and smooth straights, there were other challenges, too. Racing around the different tracks with Night Shifter offered a smooth experience. This car had everything: a neon orange chassis and wheels, a dynamic body, and the cool as hell Hot Wheels logo on the side. Whilst it has been some time since a great Micro Machines game existed, it filled me with happiness revisiting my youth racing with these cars. Although the calibre of control is second to none, there’s a much larger slice of fun thanks to the tracks and cars that feature. Milestone know exactly how to get it right, and they’ve done it again in Hot Wheels Unleashed. The first thing noticeable about racing was how responsive the handling is. The handling is tight, the courses are crazy, and the cars on offer provide a welcoming throwback to the toys we played with as kids. We were given an exclusive hands-on with the game, and our early impressions are glowing. However, they’ve turned their hand to arcade racing with the upcoming Hot Wheels Unleashed. Their recent efforts have lit up the next-generation of gaming. This can be especially useful for gears.Milestone has been the leader in motocross racing simulation for a long time now, thanks to cornering the market with series like Ride, Moto GP, MXGP, and Monster Supercross. If you want to maximize your profits earned, you can sell all cars for either coins or gears. I've become aware that they stopped doing racing seasons nowadays, however the extra content in the DLC chapters are quite useful for getting a ton of gears still. Daily challenges usually only take about 10-20 minutes, and you usually get ~1 new level a day. About every other tier gives you ~3500 coins and ~500 gears up until level 50. The pass is ~$5 if you want premium, but the free pass still awards you coins and gears. The best way to grind coins and gears is to complete your daily challenges for the Racing Season. Currently, there is no way to see your total income. You can freely use both your money and gears as you do not need to have it all at once. These achievements are related to your total income. These are the achievements considered the grindy ones. All credits to the creator, Vinewood Motors. Adding to time trials, another tips is to look up shortcuts on youtube.įor the 5 hardest time trials, I recommend checking out This Video. There are probably other good ones, but these are my most used ones. My best experiences were with the Koenigsegg Jesko or 24 Ours, though the Power Rocket and Bad to the Blade were really solid cars too. If you struggle with time trials, try to get a better car first. This will make all the races trivial, and not require a lot of skill to win. This includes every race, every time trial, every secret pad, every boss battle, and you have to reach the unleashed goal in all of them. You're required to 100% the singleplayer map except for the DLC sections in the bottom, in order to gain all singleplayer achievements. I will try to give tips where it's needed, but most of it is fairly self explanatory. For the Batman, Monster Trucks and Looney Tunes sections, see the DLC section below. All of the achievements related to the singleplayer, "HOT WHEELS CITY RUMBLE".
